In-Person Conversation with DOJ and CISA on new Data Regulations

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2024

8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

VENUE

Morrison Foerster
2100 L Street, NW, Suite 900
Washington, D.C. 20037

Morrison Foerster will be hosting an exclusive conversation with Devin DeBacker, Chief of DOJ’s Foreign Investment Review Section (FIRS) and Jay Gazlay, Deputy Associate Director of DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), to discuss the recently announced Bulk Sensitive Data Regulatory Program.

The newly proposed regulations establish a data control program in the United States, for the first time. The program limits cross-border sharing of personal information, regulates the sale of sensitive data, and regulates who can access certain data (including employees, vendors, investors, and senior personnel). It will also impose new cybersecurity requirements on entities that engage with certain data transactions.

Brandon L. Van Grack, co-chair of Morrison Foerster’s National Security practice and former DOJ national security official who is a contributing editor at Lawfare, will speak with Chief DeBacker and Deputy Associate Director Gazlay and will then moderate an audience Q&A. For a preview of topics to be discussed, the corresponding episode of The Regulators with Chief DeBacker will be available at this link ahead of the event.

For a summary and review of the regulations, please also see our alert.

We hope you can join us at our Washington, D.C. office on Thursday, November 14, where breakfast and beverages will be served after the program.
